As part of CTE month, we are highlighting CUHSD’s Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in newsletters and on social media using the hashtag #CTEMonth.
This week we are highlighting the Industrial and Technology Education Department at Westmont High School, which just added a new and improved manufacturing facility this school year. The manufacturing technology class gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in the industrial and technology fields to further prepare for future college and careers through the use of welding equipment, engine lathes and the full-functional wood shop.
"This is a life skill, college skill, job skill; all those things you're going to be learning here," said industrial tech teacher Brett Peterson.
The class is not only meant to prepare students for the future but to develop a different way of learning for the students. Mr. Peterson reiterated this class helps students learn math skills through this applied, hands-on curriculum.
