CUHSD Digital Communication Interns Tour NBC Bay Area Studios

On Thursday, May 2, the CUHSD Digital Communication Interns participated in a field trip to the NBC Bay Area studios where they learned how a newsroom operates and how to enter the journalism field from NBC Bay Area anchors Laura Garcia and Marcus Washington, traffic reporter Mike Inouye and Meteorologist Kari Hall.

“It was a really insightful experience,” said Digital Communication Intern Kelsea Dizon.

“It helped me appreciate and learn more about interning, especially concerning digital communications.”

The students went behind the scenes to see how a newscast is made and put on live television.  Students toured the studio, technical operations center and control room during a live newscast.

“I saw the value in learning how the news production system works from the reporting to the broadcast,” said Digital Communication Intern William Minker.

The program was launched last semester to help the District communicate important stories happening at each campus and also help students learn about the communication industry through workshops with local communication and media professionals.
