Updated Santa Clara County COVID-19 Status

Dear CUHSD Community,

You may be aware that Santa Clara County has moved Purple (Tier 1) to Red (Tier 2) on the new California Public Health Department COVID-19 Order and Monitoring System, which means some restrictions are being lifted in our county. Governor Gavin Newsom has stated that schools will be eligible to reopen once their county has been on Red (Tier 2) or higher for 14 days.

Although Santa Clara County recently moved to Red, CUHSD has already committed to online learning for the duration of the Fall semester, in accordance with our agreement with our labor partner, the Campbell High School Teachers Associations.  We will stay focused on providing robust online teaching and learning for all students this semester and will work to create opportunities for some students to opt-into in-person support later in the semester, if feasible.

Although I am encouraged by the recent status change for Santa Clara County, we know conditions with COVID-19 can quickly change. As we continue to monitor the latest guidance and information from county and state public health officials, we remain committed to keeping our community engaged and informed as we begin planning for the Spring.

We appreciate your continued partnership as we work to create a new normal for students with a consistent routine with the support of their parents, teachers, administrators and peers.

Sincerely,
