National School Counseling Week 2024, themed "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused," and sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be observed from February 5th to 9th, 2024. This week-long celebration aims to shine a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of school counselors in U.S. educational systems and the positive impact they have on students' lives.
National School Counseling Week underscores the significant role school counselors play in guiding students towards academic success and helping them navigate their career aspirations. This special week is an opportunity to honor and recognize school counselors who diligently implement comprehensive school counseling programs, which are essential components of modern education.
“School counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ academic concerns, career options and social/emotional skills,” said Jill Cook, ASCA executive director. “School counseling programs help to increase student achievement and provide a much-needed resource for students, parents, teachers and administrators. School counselors are integral to student success.”
Over 100,000 school counselors nationwide will participate in celebrating National School Counseling this week. Many schools, including those within the Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD), will be participating in education campaigns, highlighting the advantages of a comprehensive school counseling program to students and families.
